Tree of Hope Cook Book

A group of west Kent, England chefs, cooks, restaurateurs and artisan food producers have left the white heat of the kitchen and joined with Tonbridge-based charity Tree of Hope to produce ‘The Cook Book’, a tasty collection of lavishly illustrated foodie stories and recipe.

Family-focused Tree of Hope latest fundraising initiative is ‘The Cook Book Sevenoaks/Tonbridge/Tunbridge Wells’, an enticing collection of recipes and food stories about chefs, restaurants, pubs and cafes based in the west Kent area of southern England. Working in collaboration with Caroline Kings from the popular, news-breaking food blog Eat Around Tonbridge, food photographer Severien Vits and events organiser Charlotte Rogers. Known as the Garden of England, Kent has a great diversity in terms of its food and The Cook Book is also a way of bringing the local community together in a celebration of its wonderful food culture.

Notable locals already featuring include Whiting and Hammond, The Smallholding, Cocolicious, Sulston’s Kitchen, Papermakers Arms, Vittle and Swig, The Plough at Ivy Hatch and The Beacon pub in Tunbridge Wells.

The Lemon Grove took part in the book because we feel that: “Sharing recipes, ingredients and food is a great way to build a strong, sharing, caring community, and I am proud to be working with Tree of Hope on this amazing book representing many of our towns’ innovative and creative chefs, producers and restaurateurs.”

Food writing, discovering food stories, meeting producers, chefs and food enthusiasts are all part of desire to inspire, inform my readers and fellow food lovers. I am a freelance writer, journalist and published author focusing on the international world of food and drink, culture and travel. In 2019 I graduated from the University of Gastronomic Sciences in Pollenzo, Italy with a Masters in Food Culture, Communication and Marketing. I am now a visiting Professor at the university teaching Food & Drink Writing. Based in London I travel widely, particularly across western Europe. I have chaired many conferences and meetings, spoken at conferences and events and often appear on radio and TV talking most about food, the business of food and being an entrepreneur. In 2017 I won an episode of the ITV (the UK-based national television channel) cooking competition show, 'Gordon Ramsay's Culinary Genius'. I took my children on holiday to Sicily with the prize money. As an experienced farmers' market manager and operator of a small marmalade/ preserves company, I am very familiar with the issues surrounding local food, farming, enterprise and the environment.
