After an successful inaugural year in 2014, which saw more than 7,000 Londoners and visitors celebrating the capital’s flourishing wine scene, London Wine Week (May 18 – 24) is back – popping corks, decanting great vintages and decoding the wine list.

Once again, the highlight of the festival will be the self-guided Wine Tours, helping visitors discover and understand new grapes, varieties and vintages. From dusty wine vaults to classic hotel bars, top-end restaurants to tiny hidden gems – London’s Sommeliers will guide visitors through a choice of taster wine flights, each just £5. Many venues and independent merchants are planning  paired menus, special deals on corkage and drop-in tastings to people wearing the London Wine Week wristband. Plusa get a free London bar guide to help you plan a week of tasting is also being produced!

Beyond the Wine Tours, English sparkling wine producer Nyetimber, who will be hosting the central-London Hub, while Celebrity Cruises will re recreating The Lawn Club from the top deck of their iconic ships with celebrity wine expert Oz Clarke. London’s oldest wine merchant Berry Brothers & Rudd will be running wine tasting skills lessons. Hotel group Mercure will be calling on TV wine experts Susie Barrie MW and Peter Richards MW to curate their wine flights and host an intimate tasting session for those lucky enough to get a ticket.

Food writing, discovering food stories, meeting producers, chefs and food enthusiasts are all part of desire to inspire, inform my readers and fellow food lovers. I am a freelance writer, journalist and published author focusing on the international world of food and drink, culture and travel. In 2019 I graduated from the University of Gastronomic Sciences in Pollenzo, Italy with a Masters in Food Culture, Communication and Marketing. I am now a visiting Professor at the university teaching Food & Drink Writing. Based in London I travel widely, particularly across western Europe. In 2017 I won an episode of the ITV (the UK-based national television channel) cooking competition show, 'Gordon Ramsay's Culinary Genius'. I took my children on holiday to Sicily with the prize money. As an experienced farmers' market manager and operator of a small marmalade/ preserves company, I am very familiar with the issues surrounding local food, farming, enterprise and the environment.
